Trivia about So You Think You Can Dance

  • The host of the first season of So You Think You Can Dance was Laura Sanchez.  She left the show, however, to have her child.  Cat Deeley took her place and has hosted every season since.
  • The prize for the winner of each season has changed a few times.  The prize for the first season was $100,000 and an apartment overlooking Central Park.  The prize for the second season was $100,000 and a contract to dance in Celine Dion’s Vegas show.  In seasons 3 and 4, the prize was $250,000.
  • There has been a So You Think You Can Dance tour for every season but the first.

Radio City Christmas TourOne of the best Christmas shows around is the Rockette’s Radio City Christmas Spectacular (at Radio City Music Hall in New York and at other venues across North America).  If you buy tickets for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular this year, you’ll see a reimagined version of the show, with lots of special effects and, of course, the awesome dancing of the Rockettes.  Don’t miss the 2008 Radio City Christmas Spectacular!  You can find Rockettes tickets from November until January.  Look below to find Radio City tickets in Chicago, Radio City tickets in New York, Radio City tickets in Buffalo, Radio City tickets in Cleveland, Radio City tickets in Nashville and other cities as well.

Quick Facts about the Rockettes and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular

  • Since 1994, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular has toured theaters across North America.
  • During the Christmas season, the Rockettes perform five shows a day, seven days a week.
  • The Rockettes did not allow African Americans to join their troupe until 1987.  They claimed that hiring African Americans would distract from the consistent look of the dance troupe.
  • The Radio City Christmas Spectacular’s musicians went on strike in 2005, so the Rockettes had to perform to pre-recorded music.
  • The original Rockettes were formed in 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri.  They were originally called the Missouri Rockets and there were 16 women in the troupe.
