Trivia About The Dead and The Dead Tours

  • While on tour in 2003, the remaining Grateful Dead members used the name “The Other Ones” before officially changing their name to “The Dead.”
  • The Grateful Dead got their name from the Funk & Wagnall’s Folklore Dictionary.  The term refers to a dead person who expresses gratitude to the people who arranged his or her burial.
  • The largest Grateful Dead concert was performed for over half a million people.  The concert was the Summer Jam at Watkins Glen and The Grateful Dead performed with The Allman Brothers Band and The Band.
  • The Grateful Dead are known for their extensive touring.  They have performed over 2000 concerts throughout their career (please see above for Grateful Dead tickets to the 2009 Grateful Dead concerts).
