Facts About AC/DC and AC DC Tours
- The name “ACDC” was created after guitarist Malcolm Young saw “AC/DC” on the back of his sister’s sewing machine. It stands for “alternating current/direct current.”
- In 1976, AC/DC rose to international success and toured throughout Europe. The band opened for acts such as Kiss, Blue Oyster Cult and Aerosmith.
- In 1988, AC/DC was regaining popularity after a decline in commercial success. They embarked on the Blow Up Your Video Tour that February. Soon after, however, guitarist Malcolm Young decided to take time off of touring to recover from his alcoholism.
- AC/DC came in second on Australia’s list of highest earning entertainers in 2005. They also came in sixth in 2006, even though they hadn’t toured since 2003 or released an album since 2000.
