Trivia about the CMA Awards and CMA Tickets
- The CMAs almost always take place at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. However, this year (2008) the CMAs will take place at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN on 11/12.
- The CMAs were broadcast on NBC until 1972. Then from 1972 to 2006 they were broadcast on CBS. People who have CMA tickets for this year’s show, however, will be broadcast on ABC, where the show has been broadcast for the past two years.
- The first CMAs (in 1967) were presented at an untelevised ceremony at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium.
- The winners of the CMA Awards are voted on by business members of the Country Music Association.
